Despite being known for its open spaces and of course Mount Rushmore, South Dakota’s collegiate education system is very-much underrated. The University of South Dakota and South Dakota State University are the two biggest of the six (6) state schools, all of which are overseen by the South Dakota Board of Regents. The remainder of South Dakota’s collegiate school system is comprised of private schools offering a variety of subjects at the graduate and undergraduate levels as well as tech schools, community colleges and tribal colleges as well. Realizing the state’s wide open spaces make commuting difficult, most schools, public or private, have offered the majority of their programs via the internet. Online programs make it easy for individuals with hectic schedules to continue or begin furthering their education.
